Victim Rights

Tragically, there are far too many circumstances where you or a loved one can be victimized by another person or entity. At Meridian Law, we passionately believe in advocating for individuals who have suffered as a result of the unconscionable actions of someone else. We will courageously fight on behalf of you or your loved one to receive the legal recovery you deserve.

We handle victim rights cases that include:

  • Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect
  • Residential Care Abuse and Neglect
  • Treatment Facility Misconduct
  • Medical Professional Abuse and Neglect
  • Elder Law Abuse
  • Educational Institution Abuse
  • Civil Assault and Battery Claims
  • Incest and Family Abuse
  • Abuse Within a Religious or Social Institution
  • Neglect or Abuse of Children by a Care Provider or Daycare

When you are facing the tragic realization that you or a loved one has suffered at the hands of someone else, it can feel impossible to move forward. However, creating accountability for a perpetrator, or the entity responsible for ensuring your safety, is important. We can help you hold both the individual and supervising entity responsible. We can recover monetary damages for you that enable you to obtain the appropriate medical and mental health treatment you need.

We have handled cases involving nursing homes, residential care facilities, and other institutions. We recently represented a disabled woman residing in a residential group home who was assaulted by a care provider in that home. We were able to recover money damages on our client's behalf, against the residential group home, for the assault by the group home's employee.

Holding a business or institution liable for what might be the intentional wrongful act of an employee requires strong advocacy on your behalf. We work to establish knowledge, a pattern or practice of negligent supervision, or conditions within the organization that make it more likely an abuse situation might occur. Aggressive legal representation in these types of cases is especially important.

There are also circumstances in which a business or organization fails to meet its duty of care of supervision, fails to appropriately train and monitor its employees, or neglects to discipline staff that is at risk to abuse someone in their care. In these cases, the business or organization should be held responsible for their negligent actions, and we are aggressive in pursuing claims against these entities.

We are familiar with the following types of injuries, for which you or your loved one can obtain legal relief:

  • Falls
  • Medication Mistakes/Failure to Seek Appropriate Medical Care
